Be Mai Thai Restaurant, located at 263 Basin St NW in Ephrata, WA, skillfully brings the vibrant flavors of traditional Thai cuisine to the heart of this Washington town. This cozy eatery prides itself on a menu that dances between classic favorites and chef’s specials crafted to awaken the palate. From the tangy sweetness of their signature Phad Thai to the rich, aromatic depths of the #28 Salmon Curry, guests are invited to embark on a culinary journey that balances bold spices and delicate herbs in every bite.
The restaurant’s menu is an inviting mosaic of textures and tastes. Imagine tender prawn, scallops, and mussels mingling in the fiery, house brown sauce of the #29 Phad Talay, each ingredient wok-fried to perfection and served with fluffy steamed Jasmine rice. The Green Curry, marked gluten-free, delivers a creamy heat that comforts and excites simultaneously, while the Basil Fried Wings offer a crisp exterior with an herbaceous punch that pairs wonderfully with the subtly sweet, house-brewed Thai Tea.
For those seeking soulful comfort, the Pho Soups – especially the rare beef or seafood versions – present a fragrant broth rich with homemade beef bone essence, enlivened by fresh cilantro, Thai basil, and a squeeze of lime. Complementing the mains are fresh spring rolls and the irresistibly crunchy Crab Rangoon that customers repeatedly call "out of this world."
The dining atmosphere at Be Mai Thai is thoughtfully artistic, adorned with beautiful paintings and artwork that add a splash of color and personality to the space. While some guests have noted a slightly cool ambiance that could benefit from cozier feng shui touches, the genuine hospitality and accommodating spirit shine through—especially evident when the team welcomed patrons with their little dogs on a hot day, illustrating the restaurant’s commitment to making guests feel at home.
Service here has moments of warmth and attentiveness, though occasional hiccups like missing sides or shy servers have been lovingly acknowledged by returning diners who keep coming back for the flavorful food and friendly vibe. The owners’ passion for the cuisine is palpable, and while the interior itself might not be to every taste, the essence of authentic Thai hospitality and culinary excellence stands strong.
Drink options complement the menu with carefully selected beers like Singha, Sapporo, and Coors Light, alongside varietals like Chardonnay and Cabernet and even sake for those wanting to explore a broader tasting experience.
Ultimately, Be Mai Thai Restaurant invites locals and visitors alike to delight in a Thai dining experience that’s as vibrant and complex as the culture it represents. Whether you’re craving a spicy Wild Ginger stirfry, the savory depths of Chicken Fried Rice, or the sweet finish of Black Rice Pudding, this spot offers a sincere, flavor-packed escape that’s well worth a visit.
Could use to be a more in-tune with feng shui, the space itself feels... cold... I am used to Gajurat-style curries, so I wasn't sure what to expect from Thai. As far as menu is concerned, it's pretty basic. It's *very* sweet. I didn't dislike it, but if you prefer savory, it will not be your thing. The rice was cooked well, a bit 'flaky' for my preference, but still well done. The vegetables were quite fresh and everything was well cooked. The tofu was good. The 'hot tea' the server said was jasmine tea was a dreadfully cheap black tea. Like Lipton or something. That being said, the tea pot was mostly clean except I could tell they didn't clean the inside of spout very well. The Thai milk tea was very sweet, and though it had that same cheap black tea, it was pretty good. Coming from someone who doesn't like sweet teas, that's a compliment. Overall, not bad and worth a try if you've been thinking about it. I know I'll likely come back to try the desserts. They're moderately priced, the bathrooms are clean, and the staff is nice.
We tried this place tonight and the food was AMAZING. I gave 4 stars because my meal that comes with rice didn't come with any because they had to make more, so only half my dinner was served to me. Also I didn't think the waitress was very welcoming or attentive but I'll be going back just for the food We had pad Thai, basil chicken, and ragoons, which by the way were out of this world good!!! I highly suggest doing some customer service training with the waitresses.
Guys this place is so worth the visit. Like they have gorgeous artwork and paintings. (Fr so pretty) The food was sooo good we are so coming back to try more They were also trulyy accommodating. On the Monday we went, it was hot so they let us bring in our little dog. On the condition she didn't make noise. Us taking the deal. Highly recommend if you wanna make new friends. Like our waiter was Soo nicee Um so I got level 3 on the pad see u ( I forgot how to spell it). IT WAS SOO GOOD OMG. And like it was filling Yoo
4.5 out of 5 stars will definitely be going back. Highly recommend the crispy Basil chicken , only let down was that the sticky rice was overcooked. The crab rangoons were super delicious, black rice pudding as well. Service was great! Can't wait to take my lil Familia to go try. Muy recomendable!!!
The peanut sauce is a bit spicy (I'm pretty sensitive) and wish there was a non-spicy alternative. The paint job from when it opened looked rushed/amateur, and really the color scheme just doesn't suit the place. The owner's wife also doesn't seem to have good personnel management skills. (Owner himself is s good dude) That aside, love the food. The fried rice is better than can be said in a review, it's really something special. The Pad Thai and Pad See Ew are excellent, and so are the spring rolls. Also be sure to try the Thai Tea.
Great food! If you are looking for something different and delicious, stop here. You can't go wrong. All of the dishes are amazing. Service was great. I would eat here everyday.
